What box size should you choose?
The result is a minimum inside-size estimate, not a specific commercial box SKU. If your result is 14 × 10 × 6 inches, choose a box whose usable inside dimensions are at least that large. For fragile items, increase the clearance to match the cushioning system you plan to use.
Inside dimensions vs. outside dimensions
Packaging is commonly specified by inside dimensions, while carriers measure the outside of the finished package. Corrugated board thickness, flaps, bulges and overpacking can make the shipped package slightly larger than the nominal box size.
